M/s Reliance industries Ltd. (M/s. RIL) has an existing PTA plant at Patalganga, Raigad district of Maharashtra State. The company has planned to use the existing PTA Effluent treatment plant for the treatment of PIA Effluent. The existing treatment plant comprises of Anaerobic reactors (EGSB and UASB) and Aerobic treatment units. Treatability studies were conducted to check the biodegradability of the PIA effluent and its adaptability of anaerobic treatment.

Sludge activity test was conducted on the different samples of the anaerobic sludge samples from different industries to check the quality of the sludge to be procured which is having the maximum pickup rate for the COD destruction in terms of kg of COD destroyed per kg of the VSS present in the system.
